HSE will soon introduce a new educational standard for the ‘Management’ course, so the course's content and teaching methodology are being widely discussed by HSE teaching staff. The purpose of the seminar was to initiate discussion between interested faculty members in order to develop a methodological model and assist in preserving the the basic management course offered in HSE's bachelor's programmes.
The speakers of the seminar were Valery Katkalo, Faculty Dean; Irina Volkova, Head of the Department of General and Strategic Management; and Nikolay Filinov, Head of the School of Business Administration.
They outlined the goals and objectives of the project, shared examples of best practices in management teaching from around the world, and discussed issues related to the structure and content of the current versions of management curriculum. Regional campus representatives Svetlana Smeltsova (Nizhny Novgorod), Elena Veretennik (St Petersburg), and Olga Kotomina (Perm) also shared their experiences with teaching and systematizing the subject.
This seminar was the first step in beginning discussions of and further developing the management course. In the future, the FBM will be engaged in creating a unified approach to teaching the subject based on the latest trends in management theory.
