Students of the GSB International Management programme took part in the RUIE project

On June, 28, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) hosted the presentation of the student project “Testing Elements of the Eurasian Trade House Concept”, which is a joint initiative of the RUIE, the REC Export School and the HSE University.

Students of the GSB International Management programme took part in the RUIE project

The HSE Graduate School of Business was represented by the students of the GSB Master's programme “International Management”: Natalia Volkova, Cairo Jamalov and Polina Korinevskaya, who were mentored by Sergey Shaposhnikov, Associate Professor of the GSB Strategic and International Management Department.

The students faced a challenging task: they had to develop a business plan for a trading house that would unite companies interested in trade both within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and beyond. As part of the project, participants spent four months studying the experience of implementing trading and quasi-trading houses in countries such as South Korea, India and Japan. Based on this analysis, the students proposed a solution to create a Eurasian Trade House (ETH). They were able to prove that the creation of the ETD will contribute to export growth, diversification of foreign economic activities and increase the competitiveness of the EAEU companies in global markets.

The participants also developed a draft platform for the ETD and formed three packages of services for potential clients participating in foreign economic activity: “Placement”, “Support” and “Membership”. The packages differ in value and functional parameters, but all are based on a comprehensive and client-oriented approach and supporting the activities of companies in foreign markets. The ultimate goal of this innovative product is to increase the efficiency of entering foreign markets and increase international trade. The students conducted a preliminary organisational and financial analysis of the launch of the ETD platform and compiled a list of potential companies participating in the project.

Following the presentation, Sergey Krasilnikov, Vice-President and Managing Director of the International Bilateral Cooperation Department of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, emphasised the high level of project development and its practical significance. He awarded the students with certificates from the RUIE and expressed his gratitude to all participants and mentors for their work and expressed his hope for continued co-operation in implementing similar initiatives.
