Business representatives from China visited the HSE Graduate School of Business
For many Chinese, Russia is still associated with images of the Soviet Union. However, the visiting businessmen are focused on economic prospects and potential mutually beneficial cooperation. During the visit, the guests met with top managers of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian companies X5 Group, Magnit, Wildberries and others. The delegates also attended lectures at the HSE Graduate School of Business to familiarise themselves with the Russian business community and business culture.
"A window of opportunity is now opening for cooperation with Russia," emphasised one delegate. "With many Western companies leaving Russia, a vacuum has been created that Chinese businesses can fill. However, we recognise that we need to understand Russian cultural sensitivities and market dynamics in order to do business successfully."
Businessmen highly appreciated the level of lectures at the GSB. This visit marks an important step in developing closer economic ties between Chinese small and medium-sized business and the Russian market, potentially opening the way to increase trade and investment between the two countries.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the GSB Deputy Director Ivan Prostakov for his warm welcome, and to Professor Sergey Shaposhnikov for his attention to our tasks and informative lectures. During the lecture "Economics and Culture of Russian Business" Professor Shaposhnikov demonstrated actual data and also showed detailed charts and reports, which helped us to get a complete picture of the economic landscape of Russia. In addition, the professor emphasised the similarities and differences between Russian and Chinese business cultures. The objective analysis, clear explanations were an important stepping stone to developing potential business cooperation with Russia and greatly increased our confidence in success. We look forward to studying at the GSB again and look forward to deeper business cooperation with Russia."

"Professor Shaposhnikov's lecture was exceptional and far exceeded my initial expectations. I benefited immediately from it: a deeper understanding of Russia's economic situation, political transformation and the potential of Chinese-Russian trade. The practical advice on how to capitalise on opportunities and avoid risks in the current highly uncertain environment will certainly contribute positively to the success of my business decisions in the future and will serve as a guide for clients intending to enter the Russian market. I look forward to applying this valuable knowledge in the near future.
