HSE Graduate School of Business 'Goes East'

With China becoming Russia's main trade and economic partner, the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of business education grows ever more important. To this end, a delegation of the HSE Graduate School of Business led by Director Valery Katkalo visited Shanghai.

During the visit, in which First Deputy Director of GSB Ivan Prostakov and GSB Professor of Practice Stanislav Kiselev also participated, a co-operation agreement was signed between the HSE Graduate School of Business and Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (ACEM - Antai College of Economics and Management). ACEM is one of the leading university business schools in China and was the first in the country to receive 'three crowns'—the prestigious AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditations—in 2011. In addition to Shanghai, ACEM has branches in Shenzhen and Singapore.

In the spring semester of the 2023–2024 academic year, GSB students will be able to go to ACEM through a mobility programme. At present, the first group of GSB students are visiting Shanghai as part of the Antai Global Summer Programme. ACEM Dean Fangruo Chen also invited GSB Director Valery Katkalo to participate in the next International Shanghai Business School Conference organised by ACEM in 2024. This is one of the largest events in Asia dedicated to business education, bringing together the deans of leading business schools from more than 40 countries.

'In quite a short period of time, a number of Chinese business schools have joined the ranks of world-class leaders in business education. There are potential new partners for us among them: they are not only a worthy addition, but also a real alternative to European and American business schools—both in terms of the diversity and quality of educational programmes,' said Valery Katkalo, Director of the HSE Graduate School of Business.
