Manager 2.0: What a Leader Needs to Know and Be Able to Do in the Digital Age
What are the key digital competencies of a manager today and tomorrow? Do managers without basic technical education have a chance to become leaders in the digital age? How do Russian business schools need to change for successful development of managers’ digital competencies? Experts of Russian Managers Association discussed these and other questions during an online meeting of the education commission chaired by the Dean of HSE Graduate School of Business – Valery Katkalo.
The COVID pandemic has sped up the process of business digitalization and increased the demand for digital competencies of managers, - noted first deputy executive director of Russian Managers Association Vadim Kovalev, opening the discussion ‘Digital Competencies of Managers: How to Successfully Develop Them in Collaboration with Universities and Companies?’.
Valery Katkalo, the moderator of the discussion, emphasized that the pandemic has attracted attention to digital competencies, generated the need in these skills and in digital literacy, and eliminated the illusion that it is possible to work without them. At the same time, the pandemic has demonstrated a problem of understanding the notion of digital competencies itself, and a reason for that is dynamic changes of the world.
Business representatives talked about how they develop digital competencies of managers in their companies and shared their opinions about what skills a contemporary manager needs to possess.
