The unique study of the corporate universities of the country’s leading companies was initiated and first conducted by the HSE Graduate School of Business (GSB) in 2022. The project has become an annual initiative, and its fourth wave was completed in 2025 with financial support from the TMH Corporate University.

The authors of the study — Valery Katkalo, Director of the HSE Graduate School of Business, and Natalia Shumkova, Deputy Director for Corporate Education — presented the preliminary results at the 4th Forum of Corporate Learning Leaders of Russia, a key professional event for experts and heads of corporate universities. This year’s theme was “The Corporate University for the Person of the Future.” The forum took place from July 17 to 19 in Nizhny Novgorod, hosted by the Rosatom Corporate Academy.

The purpose of GSB’s annual research is to systematize knowledge about corporate universities in the Russian context. Over four years, 75 corporate universities have taken part in the study, with the number of respondents growing from 40 in 2022 to 62 in 2025. Self-assessment has become a regular practice for actively developing corporate universities.

“We see a significant increase in interest in our study and express our gratitude to its participants. This is a unique analytical project based on primary data and, now, after four years of accumulation, it clearly reveals key characteristics and trends in corporate learning in leading Russian companies. We can speak not only of quantitative growth but also of qualitative progress — greater influence on company development, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, and advanced approaches to the very concept of learning.”

“The study is conducted using a structured questionnaire. This year, significant updates were made to the sections on the place and role of corporate universities within parent company management systems, team and organizational design, the development of a broad range of learning methods, and cooperation with universities and business schools. We also added new sections to explore corporate universities’ experience in digital technologies, research activities, and personnel assessment.”

In the fourth quarter of this year, GSB plans to publish the book “Corporate Universities of Russia — 2025” based on the study results.
