Student Day Celebrated at the HSE Graduate School of Business

On January 27, the Shabolovka campus hosted Student Day, bringing together over 400 participants. The theme of the event was “Life at GSB”, inspired by the popular game SIMS, which allowed students to immerse themselves in the experience of creating their own unique world.

Student Day Celebrated at the HSE Graduate School of Business

The event was organized by the GSB Student Office in collaboration with the student organization StudTeamGSB. The concept featured four core blocks reflecting different aspects of student life at GSB:

Career: developing professional skills for future specialists

Academics: completing assignments to achieve academic excellence

Daily Life: organizing the ideal day, including time management and hobbies

Extracurricular Activities: participating in creative and student-led initiatives

To join the event, students registered via a bot, where they created their own character. By completing tasks in each block, they earned points with the ultimate goal of solving a final challenge from a partner company and "securing a CEO position."

The event featured themed zones representing various aspects of student life. Guests could attend workshops by partner companies and take part in on-stage flash mobs. Many GSB student organizations contributed to the event, including StudTeam, the “I’m In” Volunteer Community, Way Up GSB Mentorship Club, GSB Ambassadors, the GSB Student Council, the Student Committee of the Business Management program, HSE Business Club, HSE Case Club, InGroup StS, and Product Hub.

Participants aimed to earn points at various game stations and complete a final assignment from a partner organization to become a virtual CEO. On the main stage, students enjoyed SIMS-themed and general knowledge quizzes hosted by StudTeam, a “What Happened Next?” quiz show, Just Dance sessions, networking games, and an awards ceremony. The chill-out zone offered board games, speed dating, and a bracelet-making workshop. StudTeam GSB also organized an immersive quest, taking teams of 3–7 players on a journey through the futuristic world of business in the 1980s, present, and future, where they could “control time” and shape the fate of humanity in a battle against artificial intelligence.

Event partners — Axenix, Alfa-Bank, Level Group, and Technologies of Trust (TeDo) — actively supported the celebration by hosting workshops and offering students valuable knowledge and skills.

“Year after year, GSB’s Student Day impresses with its scale. A packed program created by student organizers and high turnout show the strong interest in this event. It gave participants a chance to get to know numerous student clubs and organizations, and to take part in contests, quizzes, and various activities. We're also grateful to our corporate partners — Axenix, Alfa-Bank, Level Group, and TeDo — for supporting the event.”

“Together with StudTeamGSB, we organized one of GSB’s most beloved large-scale events — Student Day. The event aimed to introduce students to the many opportunities available to them and promote GSB’s vibrant extracurricular life. It’s encouraging to see this event becoming a tradition, and each year our team of active and ambitious students continues to grow. We’re always ready to support them in turning their ideas into reality.”

“The event was dynamic and energetic. There was a steady flow of students eager to take part in different activities. From quizzes and Just Dance to games and networking, it was impossible to get bored. Even those not drawn to the main stage program found something to enjoy at the workshops. As a host, Just Dance stood out for me — even by the end of the day, students were still dancing enthusiastically to popular songs. It was amazing to see such joy and celebration.”

Polina Shevchenko

Organizer and Third-Year Student, “Marketing and Market Analytics”

“Student Day is one of the biggest events organized by StudTeamGSB. This year’s SIMS theme allowed students to develop their characters, gain experience, and compete for the role of CEO in partner companies. We hosted workshops and a stage entertainment program. Ten GSB student organizations participated, contributing to a cohesive and well-rounded experience. Guests appreciated the engaging activities, high level of organization, and the gifts from our partners.”
