HSE GSB student wins vbe-coding contest by Yandex

Anton Chukseev, a student of the “Electronic Business and Digital Innovations” program at the HSE Graduate School of Business, has become the winner of an internal hackathon on vibe-coding organized by Yandex. As part of a team, he won in the “Personal Productivity” track — one of the three competition categories.

The contest brought together over 120 teams divided into thematic categories: work productivity, personal productivity, and fun productivity. Participants were given three hours to create a useful digital product using only neural networks and AI tools.

Vibe-coding is a new approach to digital product development, shifting the focus from writing code to formulating the task and working with neural networks. This method makes programming more accessible, opening the door to the world of IT solutions for people with business backgrounds, designers, managers, and other professionals who work with ideas rather than code.

Anton’s team project was a gamified task tracker that motivates users to complete tasks through visual progress. In the app, each user has their own virtual city: if you complete tasks — the city grows and develops. Miss deadlines — monsters attack the city, and it begins to fall apart.

“Typical trackers often don’t work — people lose motivation. We decided to increase emotional engagement through gamification. This is exactly the topic we discussed during our master’s studies. Moreover, my consulting project this year was dedicated to implementing game mechanics in the Magnit retail chain’s app.”

He also noted that under time constraints, what helped most was clear role distribution, fast planning, task formulation using the Jobs to Be Done approach, and experience in testing AI tools — gained in part through his studies.
Currently, Anton Chukseev is working on the startup Mode Morph together with Dzérassa Katsanova and Anna Vdovichenko, also students of the “Electronic Business and Digital Innovations” program. Mode Morph is an AI assistant that personalizes users’ wardrobes using artificial intelligence technologies. The project aims to solve the everyday problem of “nothing to wear” and has already attracted its first users. The team has also been joined by stylist Ilona Adyrkhayeva — a graduate of HSE. As part of the initiative, she is responsible for styling selections and user experience.

Congratulations to Anton on his victory and best wishes for continued success!
