Avito and HSE GSB to train students in Product Management
The master’s program is designed to train specialists in managing high-tech products. The curriculum combines user analytics, an understanding of value creation and business models for IT products, and technical skills for product development and management, including AI technologies.
The program will enroll up to 42 students, 30 of whom will receive scholarships from Avito.
The training will offer deep immersion in product culture and the development of skills aligned with the product competency matrix for mid-level product managers. In particular, the program emphasizes strong foundations in analytics and research. A key focus will be working with products that apply machine learning technologies. The program also provides internship opportunities at Avito and enables effective networking through its primarily in-person format, with a few online courses.
“The knowledge and skills we aim to pass on to students have been carefully selected so that graduates will immediately have a solid set of competencies and be ready to independently manage and develop projects. All course subjects were chosen based on the company’s actual needs, and assignments are based on real-life cases and tasks that our specialists tackle every day,” says Tatyana Semina, Head of Intern Program Development at Avito.

Academic Supervisor of the Master’s Program “Product Management in IT Business”, Professor at HSE Graduate School of Business
“The program is built on a synthesis of academic foundation and practical application — we rely on the product competency matrix used at Avito and enhance it with deep theoretical knowledge. This allows students not only to master product management tools but also to learn how to apply them to real business challenges, including projects at the intersection of analytics and machine learning.”
A mandatory part of the students’ academic path is practical experience. This includes group projects using Avito’s data: working on business cases across various verticals using analytics and ML, as well as the opportunity to complete an internship at the company.
Admission to the program is competitive — in addition to educational background, the selection committee will consider applicants’ experience in IT and the results of an entrance interview, which includes an assessment of a case assignment.
