HSE GSB student takes 1st place at All-Russian Karate Tournament in Odintsovo
The tournament in Odintsovo is traditionally considered one of the most competitive of the season, and its all-Russian status attracts many experienced and accomplished athletes. For participants, this competition is a significant milestone in their sports careers, and winning at such a high level opens up great opportunities for future professional growth.
For Dmitry Konyaev, this victory was not only a major athletic achievement but also a true test of resilience. The competition was fierce: in the category where the GSB student competed (ages 18–20, up to 65 kg), several dozen athletes participated, each representing strong clubs and regions across the country.
In the final match, Dmitry demonstrated excellent technique, determination, and a strong will to win, which earned him a well-deserved gold medal. It’s especially worth noting how critical it was to maintain focus and composure in such an intense environment. His consistent training and perseverance played a key role in securing this victory — one that will forever stand out in his athletic biography.
For HSE University and the Graduate School of Business, Dmitry’s win is a source of great pride. We congratulate him on this outstanding result and wish him continued success on his athletic journey!

“I managed to repeat last year’s result in the same category, but this time reaching the top of the podium was much more difficult. My opponents are training and improving, after all. Thank God there were no serious injuries — and that’s what matters most. I’ll take a two-week break and then return to training.”
