MCI The Entrepreneurial School organizes a three-week winter program held in the month of February and offers undergraduate courses with a focus on business.

Programme fees:  tuition is waived for GSB students, all other expenses are covered by students (approx. EUR 1,100 for 4 weeks)

The winter school “From Mine to Finger. A deep dive into the world of Diamonds”  is a collaborative effort of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), the University of Antwerp, and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

The program offers a diverse range of activities, including fascinating site visits, thought-provoking lectures, interactive workshops, and enlightening keynotes delivered by globally acclaimed academics and industry experts. 

The winter school is going to be organised in two modules:

1. Online Preparatory Module (Mid January):

Participants will have access to a variety of articles and videos devoted to the geological and physical origin of diamonds, the valuation process of diamonds, certification procedures, etc. This preparatory track ensures that every participant is ready for the upcoming winter school.

2. Live Module in  Johannesburg, South Africa (5 February - 14 February): 

Winter school students will be exposed to the value chain of diamonds, firsthand diamond mining process, African diamond mining communities, sustainable and transparent practices in the diamond industry, insight into the economic impact of the diamond industry and its relation to data and cultural trends. During the live module participants will be also working in teams on group projects. 

Participants of the winter school will have an opportunity to earn 3 ECTS by successfully completing the program and its assignments. 
 

Who can apply: Final year Bachelor & Master students. English proficiency certificates are required.

Accommodation: Students are offered to stay in GIBS dormitories. The price is 1470 ZAR, including dinner, bed and breakfast.

The curriculum of the school allows students to explore the experiences of successful long-lived companies of Japan, discover new approaches to sustainable and innovative business development, and solve business challenges by studying the best management practices of Japan. Participants will be able to learn the key elements of managing successful companies in Japan, familiarize themselves with the main models and principles of managing long-lived businesses, expand their approaches to developing entrepreneurial strategies, and learn to adopt innovative approaches following the success cases of Japanese companies.

Costs: Tuition fees are waived, but students cover all the programme-related expenses (flights, accomodation, insurance, etc).  The approximate cost of the winter school participation is 250.000 rubles.
