The students of the Graduate School of Business studying on the Bachelor's degree programs “International Business” and Master's degree programs “International Management” had a unique opportunity to broaden their horizons by taking part in the Winter School at one of the most prestigious universities in Europe - Corvinus University of Budapest in Budapest, Hungary. This event was not only an educational but also a cultural adventure, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the world of international relations, intercultural communication and get to know the rich heritage of the Hungarian capital.

Winter School in Budapest: immersion in the world of international business and intercultural communication

Educational component: from theory to practice

The Winter School offered students a rich program consisting of two key modules, each aimed at developing professional competencies in international business and management.

The first module was devoted to international relations. Through lectures and discussions, students explored complex geopolitical issues related to Hungary's position in the modern world. Special attention was paid to how historical events and contemporary challenges, such as migration, economic relations and security issues, influence the formation of the country's foreign policy. The participants not only listened to lectures, but also actively participated in debates, case studies and discussions of current issues, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of decision-making in the international arena.

The second module, led by Dr. Zita Kelemen, focused on managing cultural diversity in international business. In a globalized world where companies are increasingly entering markets with different cultural contexts, understanding these differences has become critical to success. Students studied examples of cultural sensitivity, discussed how to effectively manage international teams, incorporate cultural aspects into marketing strategies, and build productive communications with foreign partners. Practical assignments allowed participants to apply their knowledge in real-life situations, which became valuable experience for their future careers.

In addition, the students visited a Hungarian startup with a unique international strategy, where they were able to learn first-hand about the intricacies of building a business on a global level. This was a great opportunity to see how theoretical knowledge is put into practice.

Cultural immersion: Budapest as a source of inspiration

>The educational program was complemented by a rich cultural component. Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, was an ideal place to explore the history, architecture and traditions of Hungary. Students took part in two fascinating tours of Buda and Pest, where they were able to enjoy majestic buildings, bridges over the Danube and the famous thermal springs. They also explored the city on their own, visiting landmarks such as the Corvinus University building, which is not only an educational centre but also an architectural monument.

Corwin University: gateway to the world of international education

Corvinus University, founded in 1920, is one of the leading partners of the Graduate School of Business. It is known for its high standards of education, academic excellence in economics, social sciences, international relations and management, and prestigious international accreditations. The university attracts students from all over the world due to its multicultural environment and a wide range of English-language programs. The modern infrastructure, including lecture halls, libraries and research centres, creates ideal conditions for study and research.

The partnership between Corvinus University and the Graduate School of Business continues to grow. Plans include organizing regular events such as winter and summer schools, as well as long-term mobility programs that allow students to spend one or two semesters abroad. This opens up new opportunities for professional growth and international experience for program participants.

Results: knowledge, experience and inspiration

Participation in the winter school was not only an opportunity for the students of the Graduate School of Business to deepen their knowledge of international business and management, but also a unique chance to get acquainted with a new culture, broaden their horizons and establish international contacts. The skills and impressions gained will undoubtedly be an important step towards a successful career in a global world.

The Winter School in Budapest proved that education is not only lectures and textbooks, but also traveling, new acquaintances and inspiration. For the students of the Graduate School of Business, this event was a vivid example of how knowledge and experience can be combined in one exciting adventure.

1st year student, International Management program

The winter school left only good impressions. First of all, I would like to note that the program itself was well balanced, we did not have too much either with studies or with the cultural program, we were able to enjoy everything and at the same time have at our disposal free time. I would also like to note the convenient accommodation on the campus, where there is absolutely everything for a comfortable stay. And, of course, I would like to thank Anna Veselova, who was always ready to support us, our teacher Tomas, who energized us every day to give us maximum knowledge, and, of course, Zita, who organized our program in Budapest. In conclusion, I would like to say that such programs really develop competencies and skills in the shortest possible time, and I hope that there will be even more such programs at the Graduate School of Business!

Winter School at Corwin University in Budapest was an incredible experience, combining International Relations and Cross-Cultural Communication courses with guest lecturers. The lecture by an expert from the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) was my favorite. Despite the academic intensity of the program, we had enough time to experience the culture of Budapest. A tour of Buda Castle and a visit to the Parliament gave a rich insight into Budapest's history. Equally fascinating was a visit to a beer company, where we were given a tour of the production facility and the managers explained the specifics of entering new markets. So, the winter school is a fantastic place for networking and personal growth. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for an international academic experience.

This was my first international exchange experience at the Higher School of Economics, which I rate 5 out of 5. The teachers were not only highly professional, but also charismatic, which created an inspiring atmosphere for learning. The living conditions were comfortable and the opportunities for international communication were ample.

The training program was characterized by its relevance and focused exclusively on modern approaches and problems. In addition, the cultural program of the winter school was exceptional. I had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Hungarian culture and its history.

I highly recommend all students to consider studying at Corvinus University: it is a unique experience and the education offered here is truly of a high standard. I recommend all students to take part in the Corvinus Institute program - it is a unique opportunity and the quality of education is truly outstanding.

This was my first winter school and I can say that it was the right decision to apply for participation. I was 100 percent satisfied with this trip. The program was organized very conveniently with a perfect balance of study and free time, so we had the opportunity to get to know the city without rushing. In addition, the program included 2 sightseeing tours, which helped us not to miss any important places.

Talking about the training program, it was really interesting and informative, with a high level of involvement and interaction.

To summarize, I can say that I would definitely recommend this winter school to other students!

The second semester of my studies started with a business trip to winter school in Hungary. Honestly, I didn’t have strong expectations as it was not only my first experience of participation in such activity but also a trial format for Corvinus university. During the trip, I gained new acquaintances, knowledge about Hungary and cross-cultural communications, got familiar with Budapest and just had great time. Thanks to all organizations, hope to participate again.
