FAQ

General questions

How does academic performance affect the selection results?

When reviewing a student’s application, both their current and cumulative GPA, as well as their percentile ranking, are taken into account. The most recently published data available at the time of the competition is used. Academic performance plays an important role, but it is not the only decisive factor.

Can I participate in both the university-wide and GSB-level competitions at the same time?

Yes. You may apply for both competitions, thereby doubling your chances of success. However, if you are awarded a quota in one competition before the results of the other are announced, you must immediately decide whether to accept the offer or decline it and wait for the second competition. This is done to prevent the university from losing a quota place and to allow it to be offered to another student if you decline.

Can I withdraw from the mobility program at any stage of the selection process?

Yes, you can withdraw at any stage by notifying the GSB International Office via email at outgoing.gsb@hse.ru. Please do so as soon as you make your decision so that another student can take advantage of the opportunity.

Will my tuition discount be preserved after returning from mobility?

Yes, the discount will be preserved, provided that you successfully complete the courses at the partner university and have them transferred to HSE.

What will happen to my rating when I return from exchange?

If the credit transfer of the courses taken at the partner university is not completed by the end of the exam session, your ranking will drop. However, it will be restored after the successful transfer.

Will my dormitory place be reserved while I’m on exchange?

Yes. Before leaving for mobility, you must inform the dormitory manager of your absence and submit an application indicating the period of your exchange. Note that you will still be required to pay for the dormitory during your absence.

Requirements from the host university

What is a current/latest transcript and where can I get it?

A transcript is a list of all completed courses along with your grades. The English-language transcript can be ordered from the academic office of your degree program.

The host university requires a letter indicating my English level. Where can I get it?

The GSB International Office can issue a confirmation letter upon request, provided you have documented proof of your English proficiency. Acceptable proof includes: results from the Independent English Exam or LingvoTest, international certificates (including Duolingo), or studies in an English-taught program. Other documents are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To request a letter, email outgoing.gsb@hse.ru.

What is a Learning Agreement? Who can sign it for me?

A Learning Agreement (LA) is a document similar to the IUP (Individual Study Plan) that some host universities require. The LA template is provided by the host university. The student fills in all necessary information and sends it to the GSB International Office for signature along with the final approved version of their IUP to outgoing.gsb@hse.ru.

Required details for the form:
Faculty/Department – Graduate School of Business
Address – 26/4 Ulitsa Shabolovka, Office 4340, 119049, Moscow

To verify the selected courses, the IUP must be submitted together with the LA.

Visa Processing

What documents do I need for a visa? How do I apply?

Students apply for a student visa independently. The most up-to-date list of required documents should be checked on the website of the embassy, consulate, or visa center of the host country.

I need a copy of an agreement between HSE and the host university to apply for a visa. Where can I get it?

Please contact the GSB International Office at outgoing.gsb@hse.ru, and we will send you a copy of the document.

I need confirmation that I receive a mobility scholarship for the embassy. How can I get such a letter?

Please contact the GSB International Office at outgoing.gsb@hse.ru.
