Features of interim and ongoing assessments at the GSB

Regulations

Organisation of control elements

Exams in GSB study programmes are always:

  • compulsory - a final grade for a discipline cannot be given without taking into account the grade for the examination;
  • blocking - an unsatisfactory grade for the final work leads to an unsatisfactory grade for a discipline;
  • weighting no less than 30% and no more than 50% of the final grade for a discipline.

All exams at GSB are conducted either in written form or in the form of project defence and monitor the formation of the planned learning outcomes of the discipline stated in the course syllabus. The form of the examination shall be determined by the person responsible for organising the attestation and shall be recorded in the course syllabus.

What should be included in the course syllabus?

No later than 10 working days before the start of the module, the responsible teacher forms a course syllabus in the LMS, which establishes the procedure for organising the implementation of control elements, including

  • the list of the Control Elements;
  • the form, format, content and procedure of control implementation;
  • the formula and criteria of evaluation;
  • the blocking, retakeable/non-retakeable Control Elements;
  • the rules for rounding the final grade;
  • organisation and procedure for grading re-takes;
  • examination comments containing information on students' rights and obligations during the examination, the systems and platforms to be used, the procedure for open sources, the use of drafts etc.

The department responsible for the implementation of the discipline shall control the timing of the posting and completeness of the course syllabus by teachers. No later than 5 days before the start of the study module, the approved course syllabus containing all the necessary information, including the procedure for organising Control Elements, should be available to students in the HSE information environment (LMS).
