University Library

About the university library

The HSE Library has over 700,000 items and subscribes to about 270 titles of Russian periodicals and 80 titles of international journals. The library is equipped with online access and electronic resource subscriptions, which are available 24/7. The electronic subscription covers diverse electronic resources - databases of electronic journals, electronic books, master's and doctoral dissertations, abstract databases and citation databases, special resources of macroeconomic statistics, marketing databases and databases of business analytics. There are about 50,000 e-journals, 150,000 e-books and over 1 million dissertations in full-text subscriptions. About 90% of these are English-language publications.

Registration procedure

To gain access to the reading rooms and to use literature and books, you should first register at the library by clicking here and obtaining a library card. Please review the HSE library rules. You will need to fill in the registration form. Within 2 working days, you will receive a follow-up letter with the number of your library card to the HSE email you entered.

Procedures for obtaining remote access to HSE electronic resources

There are two ways to access the electronic resources of HSE library. It is possible to access the library's electronic resources from any computer at HSE University as well as from personal devices using the university's internal WIFI connection. A Guide to Leading Management and Business Journals Financial Times 50

The Higher School of Business website now has a special section prepared by the GSB Library staff - the Financial Times 50 (FT 50) Guide to Leading Foreign Business and Management Journals. This guide introduces readers to a list of the top 50 research journals on business and management according to the British newspaper Financial Times.

Choosing books via the online pre-order system (booking) of print publications

The GSB Library offers book reservation through an online pre-booking system. Booking guide:

  1. In the "Finder" link, find the desired book;
  2. In the "Copies" tab check the availability of the book for booking at the Shabolovka library;
  3. Select a publication by clicking on the active link in the "Order" column;
  4. Go to the Personal Library profile and complete the ordering process;
  5. You will be notified by email of a successful booking.

Please note that the majority of textbooks are available in the Library's electronic resources.

Electronic delivery of library materials

There is an e-delivery service for HSE students and staff. If you are unable to visit our reading rooms, you can request access to an electronic copy of a document from the print collection of the HSE Library.

Copies of which documents may be requested?

  • selected articles from periodicals and collections of articles (one per issue);
  • extracts from a book (no more than 15% of the document).

Who can use the service? HSE students and employees who are registered in the Library and have a valid library card and corporate email address.

How to obtain the service?

  • check the availability of the required document in the catalogue of printed publications and copy its bibliographic description to fill in the application form;
  • fill in and send the request form to https://elib.hse.ru/Scan/zakaz_scan.php

Joint economic and social data archive

The Joint Economic and Social Data Archive (JESDA) is an organization providing free and open access to the results of empirical research in social sciences. The Archive was founded in 2000. Since then, more than 750 sociological researches and over 100 time series of key Russian economic indicators have been collected in the Archive.
