Freemovers
Freemovers are students who:
– go on academic mobility to a university that is not among the partners of HSE or GSB (or was a partner of GSB in the past),
– or apply to a partner university but entirely on a paid basis (without a quota and without a scholarship).
Unlike traditional student exchange, a freemover organizes the entire process independently:
– selects a university and a program of interest,
– contacts the international office of the chosen university,
– clarifies the terms of participation (dates, cost, requirements),
– prepares an individual study plan and the full set of required documents.
Important: a mobility order must also be issued for freemovers. Without it, the system will consider that you missed a semester of study, and this may lead to expulsion. Moreover, without the order, it will be impossible to transfer the credits for the courses you took at the foreign university.
Therefore, one of the first steps after choosing a university is to inform the study office about your decision to go on mobility and to coordinate your individual study plan (ISP) with the study office and the academic supervisor.
Detailed steps for preparing for freemover mobility are outlined here.
Below is a list of former GSB partner universities that are willing to accept students as freemovers. We recommend checking whether GSB students are still eligible for any discounts at these universities.
You may also independently choose any other university.
