GSB hosted the first World Culture Festival
Did you know that GSB is presently home to 690 international students from 69 countries and 4 continents?
GSB is an international business school that represents the multinational Russia, as well as nationalities and ethnicities from all over the world, from near and far abroad, from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. The visitors of the first World Culture Festival held at GSB had a chance to see it for themselves. Students from Germany, Austria, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Tatarstan and Brazil talked about their respective cultures, introducing the audience to the geography, history, customs, folklore and culinary traditions of their native land.
The program included presentations from the participants, art performances, booths with flags, posters, souvenirs and samples of national cuisine that attendees were invited to try at the condition that they took part in uncomplicated quests organized by the cultural ambassadors. Russia was not forgotten either and was duly represented by two performers of Russian folk songs. The girls came wearing traditional costumes and captivated everyone with their soulful voices. A richly ornated table with pancakes, pies, and an authentic old samovar, decorated with barankas, welcomed the visitors to have a cup of tea with traditional Russian treats. The warm and cozy atmosphere invited attendees to share impressions, discuss with the participants the richness and diversity of their national traditions and socialize.
At the end of the event, the winners were presented with awards in three categories. The first prize for the best presentation and best booth went to Bolivia, represented by Roksana Ramirez, Daniel Flores, Juan Luis Quispe and Araceli Gutierrez, who conquered the hearts of the audience with a costumed performance of the Caporales folk dance. The second place for the presentation and the booth went to Mexico, represented by Georgina Larruz Jimenez and Perez Aguilar Jorge, and Azerbaijan represented by Gulhar Bayramova, Eldar Badalov, Nigar Aliyeva and Emil Eyubov. The award of the most International GSB student went to Roman Maribona Perez from Cuba who showed the greatest knowledge in the field of national traditions of the cultures represented at the festival.
We thank festival participants and representatives of the GSB International Officer and Student Affairs Office for a wonderfully organized festival and hope that it is the beginning of a beautiful tradition that will remind us every year that the HSE Graduate School of Business is a truly international university.
