GSB International Students Dive into Russian Culture at the Izmailovo Kremlin Tour
On October 27, the GSB International Office led a captivating cultural tour to the Izmailovo Kremlin, offering international students a unique and immersive experience of Russian traditions, arts, and history. Known for its colorful architecture and significant heritage, the Izmailovo Kremlin provided the ideal setting for students to explore Russian culture and artistry.
Eleven students from Pakistan, China, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Belarus, and Ghana joined the tour, accompanied by an expert guide. Together, they explored the Kremlin’s fascinating cultural exhibitions and roamed its craft markets, where traditional arts and handmade crafts offered an authentic look into Russian creativity.
A highlight of the day was visiting the Kremlin’s historical museums, which showcased Russian folklore, traditional drinks, and artisanal craftsmanship. The students left with a deepened appreciation of Russia’s cultural legacy and strengthened connections with peers over shared learning.
To complete the experience, students took part in a Matryoshka painting workshop, where they unleashed their creativity by crafting their own nesting dolls under the guidance of skilled artisan. Many expressed joy at making their own iconic souvenirs, a lasting reminder of the experience shared with classmates from around the globe.
The tour, conducted entirely in English, ensured that everyone could fully engage and participate.
