How I chose Russia and HSE University
Before moving to Russia, I visited three times as a tourist. And with each visit, I fell more and more in love with this country. I was captivated by its culture and history, as well as by its traditional values, which align with my own. In Western countries, such traditional values are losing their significance in society. These factors, along with the goal of obtaining a master’s degree to advance my professional career, led me to make this decision.
I researched online the best master’s programs in Russia for international students, and the programs at HSE University stood out, so I chose to study here. I liked my program, and I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Now I have friends from Syria, Peru, and of course, Russia. Overall, the study process wasn’t too difficult — the most demanding part of the program was working on the final thesis project.
The language barrier was quite significant, even though my program was taught in English. But in Mexico, I had studied Russian online for three years, and that helped me a lot — both at the university and in everyday life in Russia. My language skills improved significantly after I moved and started speaking Russian every day.
About the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in the Russian Federation
The Latin American Chamber of Commerce in the Russian Federation (CCLAR) is an independent non-profit organization that promotes bilateral trade and investment between Latin American countries and Russia. I came up with the idea of creating it due to the global situation, where some countries decided to stop trading with Russia, while others — like many Latin American nations — opened their doors to Russia and are now considered friendly countries. Additionally, there is no chamber of commerce from any Latin American country operating in Russia, even though such institutions are needed. The goal of CCLAR is to facilitate commercial exchange between Latin American countries and Russia by supporting the export and import of goods and services. We also help to strengthen commercial and diplomatic relations, promoting cooperation in various areas.
Plans for the future
My future is here, in Russia. I will marry a wonderful Russian woman and continue developing the Chamber of Commerce by attracting new partners. I want to obtain Russian citizenship because I love this country, and I have a Russian soul.
