Studying, traveling, and international communication: a semester at the University of Pécs

I spent the spring semester (from February to June) on academic exchange at the University of Pécs, studying in my fourth year of the bachelor’s program Logistics and Supply Chain Management (currently Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics).

My impressions of the academic process were overwhelmingly positive. All classes were conducted in English — the professors had an excellent command of the language, and their explanations were perfectly clear. They also proved to be true professionals: open to dialogue, eager to share practical experience, and encouraging active participation in discussions. The academic workload was well-balanced, and it was possible to choose additional subjects of interest.

The university’s infrastructure also left a great impression. Modern buildings, comfortable classrooms, and a large library all contributed to effective learning. The mentoring program was particularly helpful — local students supported us, making adaptation smooth and quick.

I lived in a dormitory, and it was a great choice — good conditions, a convenient location, and the opportunity to interact with other students from all over the world. Social life in Pécs was vibrant: the university organized many events, excursions, and student parties. Making friends was easy — both among international students and Hungarians. Even though I don’t speak Hungarian, almost everyone spoke English, which made daily life much easier.

I’d also like to say a few words about Hungary itself — it’s a fascinating and unique country. It combines a rich history, distinctive culture, and stunning architecture. The cities, especially Budapest and Pécs, are full of atmosphere, warmth, and charm. Hungarian cuisine, thermal baths, beautiful natural scenery, and the hospitality of the locals made my stay especially memorable. Every day brought something new — whether it was a trip, a new acquaintance, or just a walk along the old streets.

I also fondly remember traveling to other European countries — thanks to a flexible class schedule and affordable prices, traveling was easy and convenient. By the way, the cost of living in the city was quite budget-friendly, especially compared to major European capitals.

This trip became a valuable experience for me: I improved my language and intercultural skills, became more confident, broadened my horizons, and had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend the University of Pécs to anyone looking for a quality education in an international environment and unforgettable experiences!
