HSE University Comes First Among Russian Universities in QS Sustainability 2024
The methodology of the QS Sustainability University Rankings aims to evaluate universities’ ability to tackle the world’s greatest issues across three broad categories – Environmental Impact, Social Impact and Governance.
HSE University has been named first among 27 Russian universities ranked by QS Sustainability. Globally, it has been ranked at 344 out of 1 403 institutions.
HSE University is one of Russia’s leading higher education institutions in terms of sustainable development. Its status has been proven by its advantage over other Russian universities in the QS Sustainability Rankings.
HSE University has shown strong performance in each of the categories:
- Environmental impact – 529 globally, 4th in Russia
- Social impact – 361 globally, 1st in Russia
- Governance – 50 globally, 1st in Russia
The best result has been achieved in the category of Governance, evaluating the strength of a university’s internal governance practices, including open decision-making, ethical guidelines, student representation in their governing bodies, and financial transparency.
QS Sustainability 2024 is the second edition of the QS Sustainability Rankings. The first edition included only 5 academic institutions from Russia, while current edition covers 27, including HSE University participating in this ranking for the first time. Starting from this year, the results in the ranking significantly affect overall results in QS World University Rankings – one of the globally recognized rankings of leading academic institutions.
