HSE Graduate School of Business Presents Innovative Approaches to Responsible Business Education at PRME Global Forum 2026 in Cairo
HSE Graduate School of Business faculty made significant contributions across a number of dimensions of the forum's programming on arts-based pedagogy initiative and global implementation of PRME i5 pedagogy.
Dr. Ekaterina Ivanova led a hybrid session titled "Unleashing Creativity and Humanness to Nurture Sustainability Mindsets", convening an international panel of eight speakers and pedagogical experts. The session was inspired by the recently published book by Routledge in the PRME Series “The Power of Arts-Based Pedagogies: Transforming Mindsets to Shape our Future”, co-edited by Dr. Ekaterina Ivanova (Russia), Dr. Isabel Rimanoczy (USA) and Prof. Divya Singhal (India). The breakout session showcased innovative arts-based interventions, such as music, theatre, museums, zines, culinary arts, AI-driven assignments and reimagining tomorrow design thinking workshops from co-authors of the book through experiential learning activities, including contemplative photography workshop conducted on campus of the AUC. These initiatives demonstrated the transformative potential of creative approaches to developing sustainability mindsets among business students and demonstrated the collaborative work of the PRME Working Group Arts for Impact, co-chaired by Ekaterina Ivanova, HSE GSB and Divya Singhal, Goa Institute of Management and PRME Working Group on the Sustainability Mindset, founded by Dr. Isabel Rimanoczy.
The GSB faculty Ekaterina Ivanova contributed to a session on implementing PRME i5 pedagogy worldwide, sharing insights from a forthcoming book by Routledge in the PRME Series, co-edited by 6 global experts on i5. The PRME i5 framework, designed by the experts of Harvard School of Education and supported by the Lego Foundation, encompasses five core teaching methods: Meaningful Learning, which connects course content to students' personal values and real-world issues; Joy, which creates a positive and safe learning environment; Active Engagement, which replaces passive lectures with hands-on tasks; Supportive Interaction, which fosters teamwork and collaborative dialogue; and Iteration, which allows students to learn from failure through repeated attempts. The GSB representative presented results from comprehensive i5 workshops delivered through the PRME Chapter Eurasia, reaching over 250 participants across eight regional locations—a testament to the scalability and impact of evidence-based pedagogical innovation.

This was my first in-person Responsible Management Education Week and it exceeded all my expectations. I am proud that HSE Graduate School of Business, being a PRME signatory since 2021, is actively contributing to the vibrantly alive PRME community, staying at the forefront of transforming business education to create changemakers who will drive sustainable and inclusive development globally.
The 2026 Cairo forum marked a historic milestone as the first PRME Global Forum held outside the United States. The community now turns its attention to the 20th PRME Global Forum and 5th Responsible Management Education (RME) Week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, scheduled for June 30–July 4, 2027, hosted by Sunway Business School. This event will further expand PRME's commitment to rotating the forum across global regions, ensuring greater accessibility and representation for the international community dedicated to responsible management education and sustainable development.
