Admission

Tell us a little about yourself.

— My name is Vika, I’m a first-year student in the “Digital Product Management” program at the Graduate School of Business. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to both technology and creativity — I loved drawing and coming up with new ideas. Now I’m developing myself in the field of product management: I’m interested in UX design, studying user behaviour, and dreaming of launching my own product one day.

What was important to you when choosing a university?

— It was important to me that education wasn’t just about theory. I wanted real case studies, live interaction with industry practitioners, projects, and the chance to try myself in real work. That’s why HSE immediately stood out among the others. I considered HSE, MSU, and MGIMO.

Why did you choose the HSE Graduate School of Business?

— Honestly, the longer I study here, the more I’m convinced I made the right choice. The learning environment here is amazing: smart, motivated people around you and real opportunities for growth. Every course feels like a step toward something bigger — you’re not just studying, you’re building a real foundation for your career. That’s very inspiring.

Which programs did you consider when applying?

— At first, I considered “Business Informatics,” “International Business,” and “Business Management.” In the end, I chose “Digital Product Management” because of its relevance, combination of technical and management disciplines, and the opportunity to develop real digital products.

Studying at the HSE Graduate School of Business

Which subjects and courses have you enjoyed the most, and why?

— I especially liked the course “Project Seminar: SWOT Analysis” because it provided truly useful knowledge, such as understanding business processes.

What useful skills have you gained during your studies?

— I learned more about working with Trello and Miro for collaboration, developed presentation skills, and improved my analytical thinking. I’ve already applied these in preparing team projects and presentations.

How do you assess the workload on your programme?

— The workload is moderate — we do a lot of project work and team assignments. The real hardcore begins during exam preparation... Even so, I have enough time for personal matters and rest. Overall, studying is very comfortable!

Opportunities at the HSE Graduate School of Business

What HSE opportunities have you taken advantage of?

— I’ve participated in HSE GSB events, attended lectures and workshops with IT and business industry representatives. This helped broaden my horizons and better understand how the digital product market works.

Have you taken part in international academic mobility?

— Not yet, but I plan to join an exchange programme in the future. I want to experience studying abroad and learn about international approaches to business.

Which minor have you taken during your studies?

— I chose the minor “International Relations,” which is “waiting” for me to start in my second year.

Extracurricular Activities

Are you involved in extracurricular life?

— Yes, I try to attend various events organised by HSE to broaden my horizons and meet new people.

What do you do outside of studies?

— Outside of studies, I focus on self-education, learning foreign languages, and going to the gym. I maintain balance through planning and setting priorities.

Work Experience

Have you taken part in internships from partner companies?

— Not yet, since I’m only in my first year. But I’m already keeping an eye on open positions and opportunities so I can choose something for myself later.

Have you worked anywhere during your studies?

— I’m not officially employed yet, but I actively apply my skills and knowledge to create designs of various kinds.

Plans for the Future and Advice for HSE GSB Applicants

How do you see your future professional development?

— I plan to continue my studies in a Master’s programme. I want to deepen my knowledge of programming and build my career in technology.

What advice would you give to applicants to your program?

— My main advice is: be ready to move forward. Everything here is very dynamic — lots of projects, teamwork, deadlines — and at first it may seem overwhelming. But it’s great — you’re immediately immersed in an environment that teaches you to adapt quickly, think like a professional, and take responsibility. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes — here it’s part of the process. Ask questions, don’t hesitate to take initiative, and make use of every opportunity HSE offers. Everything you invest will pay off — with knowledge, experience, friends, and maybe even your first steps toward your dream. Believe in yourself and stay open to new things!
