The Department of Information Technologies in Culture was opened as a division of the School of Business Informatics in 2012.
The department trains highly qualified specialists who are capable of applying information and communication technologies to cultural activities, as well as develop this field’s theoretical and practical aspects and help cultural institutions and special organizations in solving a wide range of social and economic problems. The department offers important contribution to the application of new technologies in Russian cultural life, since no other national universities provide systematic training of specialists in this particular field.
The department’s approach is cross-disciplinary, with a focus on solving a wide range of issues related to the preservation, accounting, restoration, study and popularization of Russia’s cultural heritage, the development of ICT-based commercial activities of cultural institutions and the art market, and the practical application of acquired know-how and skills.
